To be still…
This is a prayer we wrote to go along with some of our past summer programming materials. Perhaps it will be a good prayer for you as you dive into another project or simply a busy day. In the midst of busyness, may your “doing” be built upon devotion.
Dear Lord,
You are my Safety and my Quiet Place.
You, O God, are my Rock and my Calm.
Teach me to be still –
to not run without rest
or lead before first finding you.
Be my umbrella when it rains
and my roof when it hails.
Forgive me for all the moments I have pretended
to be too busy for you –
for the times I’ve turned to internet or tv,
to music or magazines,
to fiction or even friends…
before I’ve turned to you.
Help me to be more fully yours
by learning to more fully be.
Dear Lord, train me to push pause.
Teach me to call “time out.”
Let my doing be built upon devotion to you.
You, O God, are my Safety and my Quiet Place.
You are my Rock and my Calm.
Amen
