Regional Post: The Southeast Region

All of our sites are split up into four different region teams that work year round developing relationships in communities and working out the details for the summer. Twice a month we will feature updates from these teams.

Check out the latest from the Southeast Region.

A big ole “How y’all doing?” from Music City!

Our team in Nashville hasn’t changed over the last few year as Leah Susi is entering her sixth year as the Regional Director of our Southeast office and Leah Samples and Dave Jaeger are both starting their third years as Area Directors.  We had a wonderful summer and we are already looking forward to some exciting new changes for the summer of 2014.

Over the course of the last month, our team has been quite busy.  We had a few weeks off to catch up with our lives after being away for a few months and we started our first week back looking over all our notes from summer. We were reminded how thankful we are for all of our staff, for our churches who served, and our wonderful communities.

Then, we packed our bags and attended CCDA in New Orleans. CCDA is a conference centered around Christian Community Development.  We ate some New Orleans food, took in culture, and were challenged to grow in how we lead and serve.  We then flew home for a day, unpacked, repacked, and flew up to Minneapolis for meetings at our headquarters.  Minneapolis was a wonderful time of reconnecting, reflecting and planning for next year (we even played around in a Corn Maize).  We also celebrated 20 years of YouthWorks, which was a great way to reflect on Gods faithfulness!

A few updates and exciting changes for 2014!

We are adding two new Beyond sites this year (Eastern Shore, VA and Cairo, IL) to the one we already have in Jackson, MS.

Back by popular demand, Birmingham is going to return to offering a Kids Club in 2014.

We also are adding a brand new site about 15 miles North of Montgomery and the site is called Wetumpka, AL.

Bayou La Batre is offering two weeks at the end of summer dedicated to more intense and larger scope Work Projects.

Will you join us in a prayer of thanksgiving for God’s faithfulness as well as lifting up the summer of 2014?  We are so excited for what this year will bring and are glad to have you along for the ride with us.  Talk to you again soon…
