Make the Most of Your Students’ Spring Break

How to plan a Spring Break that excites and engages your students!

Most weeks you get about two hours to spend with your students. Two hours every week where you faithfully pour into their lives and plant seeds of faith.

That’s one reason that school holidays like Spring Break can be a unique opportunity to squeeze in some extra, intentional time together.

During Spring Break, you have the chance to spend uninterrupted hours with your students where you can go deeper into questions of faith, have conversations about what’s on their minds, serve together, or just have fun!

Here are a few ways to make the most of your students’ Spring Break.

Spend time with your high school Seniors

Your Seniors are just a few short months away from graduation! Soon they’ll be off to college or trade school or their first grown up job. Spring Break could be the perfect time to check in on them and see how they’re feeling and what decisions they may be thinking through. You could take them to lunch or even an overnight retreat. Whatever you plan, make sure there’s time for deep conversations and a little fun too.

Plan a day of service in your community

Take one day of Spring Break to gather your group and serve people in your community. You could volunteer for a local non-profit, clean up trash at a park, or even do projects around your church. Your students will earn some community service hours for their education all while spending time together as a group. Opportunities for discipleship are sure to present themselves as you work alongside each other.

Schedule an event that excites your students and attracts their friends

What’s that event you’ve been wanting to try but haven’t had time for? If you need ideas, get your students involved. What kind of event gets them excited and makes them want to invite friends? Some students may be traveling during Spring Break, but the ones who are home will be looking for something fun to do while their parents are at work. Use this time to connect with your teenagers while also engaging new students who might be more likely to show up for an event than a regular church service.

Plan a mission trip

Of course, we couldn’t leave off the idea of using Spring Break for a mission trip! It’s what we do and we believe in the power of taking time away from your regular routine and serving a new community together. Mission trips aren’t just a summer thing! At YouthWorks we offer Custom Mission Trips during Spring Break that can take place in more than 20 communities across the county. Don’t have an entire week? No problem. We’ll help you plan a trip that’s just the right amount of time for your group. Our Custom trips can be as long or short as you prefer. In addition to serving, most groups also plan time for spiritual growth and local activities.

Spring Break is the perfect time to find extra, intentional time to invest in relationships and spiritual formation for your students.

So what will you do this Spring Break? We can’t wait to find out.
