Emilee Preps for Summer
We are currently gearing up for summer here at YouthWorks. Emilee, one of our Recruiters, is working hard to get everything ready. Here is what Emilee had to say about how she is currently prepping for the YouthWorks summer.
What are you doing to prepare for the summer?
As a recruiter, our team is busy doing interviews and hiring final staff for the start of the summer, which is rapidly approaching! We’ve been making lots of phone calls, reviewing applications and doing interviews while also determining community placement for our hired 2015 summer staff.
I’m also serving as an Area Director this summer so I’ve been preparing to meet the Site Directors in my area as well as praying for the communities and teams that I will be leading this summer. It’s an exciting time as we gear up for the summer as I am able to watch teams come together and be carefully placed in communities.
What has been helpful as you prepare?
A lot of prayer! I’ve been praying for staff, that their hearts are ready for what God has in store for them, for the theme of Upside-Down Kingdom and for the participants who are going to be hearing that theme this summer. I have also been praying for all the communities that we get the opportunity to be in, too.
What moment are you looking forward to this summer?
I’m excited to meet the staff we’ve been working to hire for the past 9 months and watch them as they interact with their teammates and fall in love with their communities. I’m excited to return to Chicago 1 and see the community members from my first summer but also meet new people in Chicago 2 and in the Quad Cities. I’m excited to watch participants fall more in love with Jesus and, most of all, to see all of the ways that God moves this summer.
After serving for two summers with YouthWorks in both Chicago and Washington D.C., Emilee joined the YouthWorks recruiting team in 2014. Originally from Southern California, she’s excited to discover new places in Minneapolis and for the fun that comes with moving to a new city. She is excited for the opportunity to share about her experiences with YouthWorks and to get to know college age students. When she isn’t working, you could probably find her at a new coffee shop or listening to music on her record player.
