Catholic Charities Of Louisville

All year we get the opportunity to work alongside some pretty incredible organizations in communities across the county. As you celebrate this Christmas, consider how you will give generously to organizations that help people in need year round. All week check out some of the organizations we’re thankful for on the YouthWorks blog.

Q. What do they do? Who do they serve?

Catholic Charities is a nation-wide ministry with member agencies across the United States. At a local level, their Louisville affiliate provides a wide range of social services, including disaster relief programs, refugee resettlement, case management, senior services, immigration legal services and housing development.

Q. How long has YouthWorks been partnering with them?

We’ve worked with Catholic Charities and the Migration and Refugee services department since we began serving in Louisville in 2008. Our volunteers have the opportunity to work in their donations center, serving the ESL classes, doing apartment setup and occasionally welcoming resettled refugees at the airport. Catholic Charities is a very holistic service partner for youth to engage with.

Q. Anything else we should know about this partner?

In a season where refugees have become a political talking point, Catholic Charities is still actively working to resettle refugees in their community, while also working with faith leaders to influence the climate for refugees in the Louisville area. In addition to any financial support that can be provided, we can commit to praying for an organization that is working closely with very vulnerable and marginalized people.

Q. Where should donations be directed?

Donations can be made at cclou.org/donate-now
