Don’t Forget to Hit Record

Here’s a sneak peak at an article in this summer’s edition of Reverb Magazine, a tool YouthWorks gives to teenagers at the end of their mission trip to help them continue processing, deepen their relationship with God, keep serving and share their stories.

record

You hit the jump.

You nailed the shot.

You pulled the perfect prank.

You said your lines flawlessly.

And you caught it all on camera!

But suddenly come those fateful words:

“I forgot to hit record.”

Fail.

After all your preparation, planning and hard work, hitting record is such a small thing. But when you do record, you are able to deepen the experience by living it out again and again, by having a solid reminder of what happened, and by sharing it with others.  Hitting record might be a small thing, but it is also a vital thing.

In case you haven’t figured it out, we’re not just talking about video cameras here. We’re talking about your mission trip. You just experienced something incredible! Something worth sharing, worth remembering and worth thinking through. Your moment to capture what happened is now! So get in front of a camera or some blank paper or an empty screen and record your story:

That thing God showed you.

That unforgettable moment.

That person you met.

That job you did.

Where will it be captured?

Write, speak, express your experience.

And don’t forget to hit record.
