3 Specific Ways You Can Pray for the YW Summer

The sun is out, tennis shoes (the clothing item formerly known as “closed foot shoes”) are securely tied, and bagged lunches are packed and ready to go in coolers. This can only mean one thing: The YouthWorks summer is officially here. As the Yea Gods and Taco Tuesdays roll in, here are…

3 Specific Ways to Pray for the YW (1)

Pray for Staff

This summer over 350 staff have said “yes” to journeying with YouthWorks over the course of the next 9 weeks. Pray for health, stamina, and joy over their summers as staff invite youth to connect to God, each other, and communities through YouthWorks mission trips.

Pray for Participants

We may have just mentioned our 350 summer staff, but did you know YouthWorks will host over 27,000 participants this summer? Middle school students, high school students, adult leaders, and families from across the nation are joining together in intentionally exploring what it means to live in the Upside-Down Kingdom. Pray for understanding, wisdom, and excitement as youth and adults dive deeper into the Establishment, Citizenship, Sacrifice, and The King of the Upside-Down Kingdom.

Pray for Communities

For the last 20 years, both staff and participants have the privilege of listening to, learning from, and participating in what God is already doing in our 70 YouthWorks communities. As we partner with communities and build intentional relationships with individuals, churches, and service partners, we seek to honor and respect all whom God calls “sons” and “daughters”. Pray that our service partners and communities would flourish in their mission and vision and that their community assets would be highlighted to and celebrated by YouthWorks staff and participants.

Kelly-Mortvedt-ResizedKelly has served in a number of roles since 2007, taking a hiatus from YouthWorks for three years to support adults with intellectual disabilities in finding employment. Kelly was drawn back to her current role in 2013 by the opportunity to train, equip and resource summer staff to love youth and communities. In her free time, Kelly enjoys working on her house with her husband Mike, hosting parties for friends or cooking up a real, whole foods meal.
