3 Summer Albums
It’s that time of the year. You know what I mean. You want the windows rolled down in your car, a cold beverage in the cup holder, flip flops on the gas pedal and last but not least…the radio cranked to 11. I know. Me too.
Now that we’re all on the same page, let’s talk briefly about music selection – and let’s be real…you’ve got a couple teenagers from the youth group in the back seat so we’ve gotta keep them in mind as well. Maybe (just maybe) you’re even on your way to a youth retreat, mission trip or adventure to the water park and need a sound track for your journey. So what are you going to play? Because let’s be honest, your Crowder CD has been skipping for over a year and the days of Audio Adrenaline and Toby Mac are…well…only cool ironically these days.
Well friends, we’re here to help you. Here’s our list of three new albums from fresh artists that will keep your car cool and your chest pumping.
Propoganda:
Prop burst onto the scene a few years ago with a unique blend of creative and unique instrumental tracks that he was throwing down spoken word-ish rap over. It got huge fast. His voice and provocative lyrics are chalk full of wisdom, creativity and inspiration and his album “Excellent” was saturated in his unique style.
His newest album, “Crimson Cord” came out a few months ago and is totally worth checking out (and turning up). In Crimson Cord Propaganda put out an even more mature and unique album than his last. The greatest thing about this album… it’s free. Check it out today on Noise Trade (http://noisetrade.com/propaganda/crimson-cord)
Needtobreath:
This is the one we’ve all heard of. Let’s just be honest. Needtobreath is nationally acclaimed for their soulful rhythms and thought provoking lyrics and several years ago they shook the music scene with their rock and roll groove.
Their new album is totally worth checking out for the same reasons that the first album was fantastic. The album takes on a certain hue that makes it especially worshipful. Listen to the album straight through and the let the lyrics sink in and do your soul some good.
Kye Kye:
Okay. I could get on a soap box about this one. This is my personal favorite to let rip with my windows down. Kye Kye kills the ambient scene with their electronic base, deeply musical patterns and thoughtful lyrics.
Their latest album, “Fantisize” is the perfect album to get you through the Iowa or Nebraska portion of your road trip… you know what I mean… it will keep your heart beating and your hands air drumming on the steering wheel.
These are three really solid and really diverse albums – I hope you get the chance to enjoy all of them this summer. Trust me when I tell you that all three are totally worth giving a try. let them rip on your next trip in the car whether it’s just down the street to the grocery store or across the country on your mission trip.
