About Leech Lake

Your group will meet several community friends with unique backgrounds and stories about the Leech Lake Reservation and Ojibwe culture. You’ll come alongside local organizations, which include home-improvement projects, food organization, trail maintenance, and other various opportunities. In the evenings, you’ll have the opportunity to learn more about Ojibwe history from community friends and participate in a scavenger hunt around Bemidji. YouthWorks has partnered with the Cass Lake community since 2000.

Please note: All information regarding service and community engagement activities are subject to change. We are actively working to identify community engagement and service opportunities in consideration of COVID.

Serving in Leech Lake

  • Serve through painting, cleaning, helping with yard work, or doing simple work projects.
  • Begin the week with an interactive experience learning about the Native culture.
  • Because we serve the widespread area surrounding the small town of Cass Lake, groups may have longer commutes to service sites and evening activities.
