  • Custom Trips: Middle School and Up

Overview

In Chicago, your group will spend time on the city’s South Side, building relationships alongside local ministries that support the elderly and neighbors experiencing homelessness. You may also join community members at food pantries or urban gardens as they work to eliminate food insecurity. During your free time you can enjoy the heart of the city by exploring downtown, catching a baseball game, or visiting one of Chicago’s many museums. YouthWorks has been honored to partner with this community since 1999.

Partner with local organizations to meet ongoing needs in the community.

During their trip participants may serve at community gardens, with a food distrubtion center, or by assisting with minor repair projects for the elderly.

Customize the experience to the needs of your group.

Due to high traffic congestion in Chicago, your group can expect to experience long drive times to some service sites, shower locations, or Community Activities.

While 12-passenger vans are permitted at this site, 7-passenger minivans will make driving and parking significantly easier. 15-passenger vans are highly discouraged and will have limited parking options throughout the city limits.

Groups should plan for an additional $15-$25 per vehicle to cover the cost of parking when visiting locations during free time.
