Serve alongside local organizations as they break cycles of generational poverty, support those experiencing food insecurity and homelessness, and continue city beautification efforts.
Overview
Your group will be involved in community development efforts to improve the life of Harrisburg’s residents. You may have the opportunity to serve with a local children’s program, community garden or food bank, or assist neighborhood associations with small home repair, community beautification and cleanup projects. In the evenings you could visit Hershey’s Chocolate World for a chocolate tour and/or enjoy the beauty of Harrisburg. YouthWorks has partnered with this community since 2010.

Students may serve all or part of the week at a food pantry, clothing distribution center, or by assisting with painting, cleaning or simple repair projects.
Due to high traffic congestion in the downtown area, some service and activities will have longer drive times.
