Overview

During your time in Brooklyn, your group may serve at food pantries, tend urban gardens, prepare and serve meals at local meal centers, or even dance with seniors at a community center. You’ll experience the vibrant, close‑knit neighborhoods that make Brooklyn such a proud and diverse borough. In the afternoons or evenings, groups can visit the Brooklyn Bridge, take in the Manhattan skyline, or enjoy Coney Island’s boardwalk and beaches. YouthWorks has partnered with this community since 2003.

Please bring additional money for subway fares if you plan on venturing out into the city for evening activities (optional).

During the trip, participants may serve at one or more of the service options.

Due to limited parking and New York City traffic, groups should expect to park on the street during the service day, at shower locations, and during free time activties. While 12-passenger vans are permitted at this site, 7-passenger minivans will make driving and parking significantly easier. 15-passenger vans are highly discouraged and will have limited parking options throughout the city limits. Street parking near the housing site is free, but most other street parking in Brooklyn requires payment.
