COVID-19 Updates

New Opportunities to Serve This Summer

This past week, we have been diligently calling all 1,200 of our churches registered for summer 2020 trips to share the new opportunities we’ve been creating for them. Since every church has a unique set of circumstances, we wanted to provide the best support possible by guiding them through the options on the phone.

(If you’re a Trip Leader who hasn’t received a call yet, you’re up on our list to call very soon! Also, be sure to check your office voice-mail in case we don’t have your cell phone.)

In the midst of those calls, our team has been working on updates to our website. We’re putting finishing touches on it this week, so here is a glimpse of what is to come:

Trips Starting July 12-August 14 – $299 per person

These trips are the same format and structure of YouthWorks trips that you trust, just postponed until later in July and early August at a limited number of sites. As a way of offering some additional support at this time, we’ve decided to drop the price to $299 per person.

3-Day Trips Starting July 12-August 14 – $239 per person

This is a shortened experience packed with meaningful service, programming, and all the fun your group loves, for only $239 per person. You will be able to pick from 5 locations that are ideal for these shorter trips.

Hometown Trips – $199 per person

We’ll come to you! In this option, we will set-up all the service opportunities, and offer programming and other staff support, all in your neighborhood. Right now, we are looking for a handful of churches interested in this experience in their city.

As we’ve worked to creatively imagine new service opportunities, we’ve continued to prioritize the health and safety of every group, staff, and community partner that we serve. That means our preparations for the summer have shifted in some important ways, including:

  • Staying in regular communication with community partners about the safety of their organizations and working with them to plan how we can best serve them this summer.
  • Addressing our summer staff training resources to ensure our health and safety practices are in line with CDC recommendations.
  • Developing communication plans with groups preparing to serve about the health of their students and volunteers before their trip.
  • Organizing preparations for work sites and lodging to follow CDC recommendations of social distancing.

By committing to this kind of work, we are prayerfully expecting God to guide our steps in the process of continuing to discern and develop new opportunities for teenagers to serve.

We will post another update next week.
