Overview

Los Angeles County is one of the most diverse and influential regions in the United States, home to over 10 million residents representing a vast range of cultures, languages, and traditions. As a global center for entertainment, arts, and innovation, the county has shaped cultural trends worldwide while also serving as a place where communities from across the globe come together.

Beneath its vibrant culture, Los Angeles County carries a complex history of racial injustice. Discriminatory housing practices, segregation in schools, inequities in policing, and economic exclusion have left lasting effects on communities of color. Local organizations, community leaders, and churches are working tirelessly to confront these inequities and build a more just future. A service-learning trip here offers participants the chance to experience the region’s cultural richness, reflect on how faith connects to matters of racial justice, and contribute in meaningful, hands-on ways.
