ABOUT THE MEDIEVAL TIMES

A simpler time, the Medieval Period features natural settings with less dense populations and very little pollution. Sturdy gothic architecture and no-nonsense politics are hallmarks of many Dark Ages communities. But the public also struggles to survive wars, frequently faces famine and are perpetually plagued with… well… plagues. Despite facing schisms, the Church plays an important part in these communities, often taking governmental, educational and ministerial roles in their municipalities.

SERVING IN MEDIEVAL TIMES

  • Help inform the population on plague prevention techniques, including exterminating Rats Of Unusual Size (R.O.U.S.’s).
  • Using only crude farm implements, fight off a real barbarian horde.
  • Assist in the writing and singing of Gregorian chants at the local monastery.

COMMUNITY EXPERIENCE

Once you arrive in the Middle Ages, you’ll spend much of the week convincing locals you are not barbarians from the east. You’ll have full evenings. On Monday night, you’ll sit down with a serf and a lord to hear two different perspectives on the feudal system and watch the sensational documentaries “Ye Olde Futility of Feudalism” and “Serfs Up, Dude.” On Tuesday, your group will join in an enlightening conversation about what it would take to end the Dark Ages. On Wednesday, you’ll visit the popular comedy club Joust Kidding. And on Thursday you’ll get to host a community cookout of barley bread and cabbage stew.
