About Mingo County

Your group will have the opportunity to learn about Appalachian culture and build relationships in Mingo County while serving through meaningful work projects and childrens ministry. You may help with building wheelchair ramps or do other simple construction projects. In the evenings, enjoy the museum on local history, visit the neighboring community of Delbarton for line dancing and listening to bluegrass music at the Opry House, attend a worship service at a local church and celebrate the week at a community cookout. YouthWorks has partnered with this community since 2000.

Serving in Mingo County

  • Serve through painting, cleaning, helping with yard work or doing other simple work projects
  • Plan and lead children’s programming, including Bible lessons, games, crafts and reading activities.

Note: Kids Club may not start until mid-June.

  • Because of the relational nature of these projects, students will remain at the same service sites through the week.

We teenagers + We communities

Teenagers need to encounter Jesus outside their normal context to deepen their faith and broaden their perspectives. Plus, communities need to be valued—not as mere recipients but as partners who have stories worth sharing in.

When we bring the two together, incredible things happen.
