Cornerstone Center for Early Learning

All year we get the opportunity to work alongside some pretty incredible organizations in communities across the county. As you celebrate this Christmas, consider how you will give generously to organizations that help people in need year round. All week check out some of the organizations we’re thankful right here on the YouthWorks blog.

Q. What do they do? Who do they serve?

Cornerstone Center for Early Learning is a childcare center that works primarily with lower income families. They provide curriculum for children 6 weeks to 6 years old. 50% of a child’s intellectual capacity is determined by stimulation after birth and research shows that the preschool years are the most critical period for maximizing lifelong learning potential. As St. Louis’ first accredited early learning facility, Cornerstone Center is devoted to enriching the lives of children during this critical period of development. It is their belief that all children–regardless of socio-economic status and developmental ability–can succeed in life if they are educated from an early age and are encouraged to develop a positive sense of self-worth. This is the driving force behind all that they do.

Q. How long has YouthWorks been partnering with them?

YouthWorks has partnered with Cornerstone Center for Early Learning for 5 years now. During the summer months, we partner with them by helping serve in the classrooms playing games, reading books and spending time with the kids.
