1K Challenge Guidlines

YouthWorks will fund up to $1,000 toward a student-led ministry project that helps to meet a need in your local community. Before submitting an application, please read through and prayerfully consider the guidelines for this project. The 1K Challenge Application is attached.

Student Led
This ministry project is to be led by a group of students who join together to meet a need in their community. 

Local
This ministry project is to be carried out within your home community or metropolitan area. YouthWorks does not want to discourage international ministry; however, the intention of the YouthWorks 1K Challenge is to challenge you to look in your own community for needs and opportunities

Identified Need
When completing the 1K Challenge Application, clearly outline the need in the community and explain how the ministry project can respond to the need.

Ongoing
The hope of YouthWorks is that the ministry project can be ongoing within the community. YouthWorks is willing to award a grant to a one-time ministry project; however, the greater desire is that you create a ministry plan that can have an ongoing (weekly/monthly) presence.

People Oriented
While YouthWorks encourages efforts to care forGod’s creation, the preference for the 1K Challenge is that the ministry project would respond to human needs within the community.

Adult Support
The ministry project should be student led, but it is important that an adult advisor is in full support of the ministry project and prepared to advise the student team. The adult will need to sign off on the 1K Challenge Application, stating that he or she is in full support of the students’ ministry project.

YouthWorks Investment
YouthWorks will grant up to $1,000 toward the ministry project. 

Follow-Up
If your group is awarded a $1,000 grant, YouthWorks wants to hear your story!  You will be required to share how the grant was used and its impact in your community.
